Camels are well-adapted to living in arid environments, and they have several unique physiological adaptations that allow them to survive for long periods without water. One of these adaptations is the ability to store water in their bodies.
Camels store water in several places in their bodies, including their bloodstream, muscles, and body fat. However, the most significant place where they store water is in their stomachs. Camels have a specialized stomach compartment called the "water stomach," which can hold up to 30 gallons (113 liters) of water.
When a camel drinks water, the water is quickly absorbed into its bloodstream and then transported to the water stomach. The camel can then draw on this stored water as needed, allowing it to survive for extended periods without access to fresh water.
